Shanice Interrupts Nicole and Ted at a Crucial Moment — Plus, Joey Makes a Promise
Monday, June 1, 2026: In today’s episode of Beyond the Gates, Ted apologizes, Nicole (almost) confesses, and Izaiah asks a very important question.

Nicole urges Vanessa to process her grief for Doug in her own way, but do it fully. Talk soon turns to Nicole and her men, including the fantasies about Ted and his recommendation that she take over as chief of staff at the hospital.
Later, Shanice is surprised to learn that Ted sent Nicole to talk to her about Derek’s death. She can’t help but wish he’d talked to her directly instead of sending his ex. She opens up, he’s supportive and it seems they’re in a pretty good place. When Nicole shows up, she and Shanice discuss the awkward situation and clear the air between them. Nicole then heads to see Ted saying they need to have a serious conversation. She’s just about to tell him about her fantasies when they are interrupted by Shanice. Nicole beats a hasty retreat, but is obviously discomfited upon seeing Ted and Shanice in one another’s arms.
Here Comes The Impaler!
As Joey and Randy prepare for their meeting with The Impaler, the casino owner makes it clear he doesn’t want the plasma ring operating in his territory. (A little late now, dude!) Randy says his boss has been different lately, wondering if it is because of Vanessa. Joey says the meeting has to take place at the casino, no weapons, and with one bodyguard each.
Fresh off a conversation with Nicole, Vanessa heads to the casino. She asks Joey what they’re going to do about Jacob’s insinuations that Joey is involved with the plasma ring, if not actually The Impaler. Perhaps they should find another crime for Jacob to focus on? When Vanessa reminisces about her past with Doug, Joey makes her promise to say something if ever he bores her. Izaiah pays his former mentor a visit, asking straight up if Joey had anything to do with Jacob nearly being killed. Joey swears he will never harm any member of Izaiah’s family. “Full stop. That’s how much you mean to me.”
Naomi Nearly Reveals Her Secret
Andre and Chelsea have a far-reaching conversation covering everything from her line of purses to his concerns about Dani potentially developing the same cancer as Anita. Sure, it may never happen, but he didn’t anticipate losing his parents, either. In the wake of that, he cut himself off, vowing not to become truly attached to anyone, including Ted and Nicole. But the more he loves Dani, the more he fears losing her.
Naomi makes up for lost time with Jacob, serving him breakfast (and smooches) in bed. But when they start making love, he hears phantom gun shots. He’s uncomfortable with the planned accommodation ceremony at the police station, saying he won’t stop until everyone involved is behind bars. She tries to help him move past the grief and remember that he has other responsibilities, including to her and his family. Getting emotional at the idea of him continuing to be involved with the investigation, she very nearly spills about her BRACA gene diagnosis. At the end of the day (and the episode), she ultimately decides the time isn’t right.
