For weeks, Matt Bennett has been an enigma — calm, composed, and eerily polite. He arrived in Genoa City claiming to be a cybersecurity consultant recommended by Claire Grace. His intelligence impressed Victoria, who quickly placed him in charge of investigating leaks at Newman Media.
But while Matt’s work was impeccable, something about him never sat right with Victoria. He avoided small talk. He rarely left the office. And sometimes, late at night, she could swear she saw him muttering to himself — as if two different people lived inside one body.
Even Nick and Nate noticed his odd behavior. But Victoria brushed it off, insisting he was simply intense about his work. Then came the night everything changed.
The strange noise in the hall.
It’s nearly midnight at Newman Enterprises. Victoria, working late as usual, hears faint mechanical sounds coming from the old archives room — a part of the building long since closed off. Curious, she grabs her phone and heads down the corridor.
The lights flicker. A cold draft snakes through the hall. She hesitates at the door, hearing Matt’s voice from inside — but it’s different, lower, rougher, like he’s speaking in disguise.

She stares at him in horror.
“You’re saying Victor faked your death?”
“I’m saying he made me disappear,” Matt says, his scarred cheek visible beneath traces of prosthetic glue. “But I came back, Victoria — and I’ve been watching ever since.”
Claire’s involvement.
Just as Victoria processes the shock, the door opens again — and Claire Grace walks in.
Victoria gasps. “Claire, you knew?”
Claire’s expression is unreadable. “I didn’t know he was your husband. I only knew him as Matt. He said he wanted to help me find peace — to understand my past.”
Victoria’s voice trembles. “You brought him into Newman Media.”
“I thought he was trying to make amends,” Claire pleads. “He said he wanted to protect us.”
“Enough, Claire,” Matt snaps. “She’s not ready for the truth.”
Victoria rounds on him. “What truth?”
Matt’s voice lowers, almost gentle.
“The truth that everything you believe about your family — about me, about Claire — is a lie.”
The DNA secret.
Matt reveals that during his time in hiding, he discovered something devastating.
“The fire that supposedly killed me wasn’t an accident,” he says. “It was ordered by someone inside Newman — to silence me before I could expose what Victor did to cover up a secret project.”
“Project?” Victoria asks, trembling.
He smirks. “Project Genesis. The experiment Victor financed years ago — the one that created false DNA links to protect his empire. Claire’s parentage wasn’t the only one altered. Yours was, too.”
“You’re lying,” she cries.
“Am I?” Matt snaps. “Ask your father why your birth records were sealed for 20 years. Ask him why I was erased.”
Victoria escapes.
Overwhelmed, Victoria pretends to faint — giving her a chance to slip out of the room. She runs down the corridor, dialing her father’s number.
“Dad, it’s me. I saw something. Matt — he’s not who he says he is. He’s… he’s Cole.”
Victor’s voice hardens. “Stay where you are, Victoria. I’ll handle this.”

Claire confesses.

That night, Victoria returns to Newman Ranch. The fire crackles as Victor pours himself a drink.
“Tell me the truth, Dad. Did you fake Cole’s death?”
Victor exhales slowly. “I did what I had to do to protect you and this family. Cole was digging into things that could have destroyed us all.”
“So it’s true,” Victoria breathes.
“He was unstable, obsessed with the past,” Victor says. “I thought he was gone forever — until now.”
Suddenly, the lights flicker. A shadow moves across the doorway.
Cole — or Matt — steps out of the darkness.
“Miss me, Victoria?”
Victor sets his glass down. “You shouldn’t have come here.”
“Oh, I think I should’ve come back a long time ago,” Cole says coldly. “Because now it’s your turn to lose everything — just like I did.”
He pulls out a flash drive.
“This contains every secret your father’s kept buried. And when I release it, the Newman legacy will burn.”
