When we think of General Hospital, one of the first names to come to mind is Luke Spencer. The ABC soap family was rocked with grief when news came that the portrayer of the iconic character had passed away at 78 on December 14, 2025. Anthony Geary had suffered complications from a scheduled surgery days prior and though the legend is no longer with us, he will have forever left a mark on daytime.

On January 7th, we reported that ABC television programming executive, Nathan Varni, took to X to assure fans that Geary would be honored very soon and shared, “Our team is working on a loving montage to be included later in the month, keep an eye out. R.I.P. Tony Geary.”

And we can now confirm that the special tribute will take place on Friday, January 23. (Please note: The tribute, which was originally supposed to air on Thursday, January 22, had to be pushed forward due to the pre-empt earlier in the week.) Plus, TV Insider has learned that the second tribute will air on Friday, February 20, where viewers will get a look back at some rare moments and Luke’s biggest adventures.

Oh, the memories… how will they ever be able to choose just a few… From Luke’s love story with Laura, and the wedding (photos here) that drew the highest viewership in soap opera history, a record 30 million viewers, to the many escapades Geary’s character had during his time on the Port Charles soap, on and off from 1978 to 2017, the possibilities are endless.

Here is a sneak peek…

Not only did his many daytime peers remember Geary through loving posts, including his co-star Genie Francis (Laura), his husband Claudio Gama shared a special message for fans. “He always told me everything he did as an actor as an artist was for his fans. Without your love and support he would have never reached the heights he did in his career. Acting was his passion as was dancing, singing, drink[ing] cola, payday candy bars and cats. He loved his country and his second home of Amsterdam. Thank you all.”

We will never forget Geary or the stories he told through Luke.
